Police investigating death of man found in Browne’s Addition apartment
SPOKANE, Wash. — A 49-year-old man was found dead in his Browne’s Addition apartment over the weekend, prompting an investigation by police.
According to court documents, Jeffrey Stephens was found in his apartment on Saturday by his father. His father told police he had tried contacting Stephens for several days, but never made contact. He then went to the apartment and found Stephens on the floor, covered in a towel and blanket.
Police responded to the apartment and said Stephens’ body showed signs of decomposition, indicating he had been dead for some time.
Officers also found what they believed to be methamphetamine inside the bathroom, according to court documents.
Spokane Police tell KXLY4 they believe the death may be the result of overdose and/or suicide.
Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the name of the deceased man was Dan Stephens. It is Jeffrey Stephens.
