Planned 911 outage: Here’s how it might affect your area tonight

There is a 911 phone line outage scheduled for tonight between 11:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. The network outage is scheduled to fix damaged communication lines between Worley, Idaho and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and will impact land-line and long-distance 911 calls. In a Facebook post, the City of Pullman outlined alternative lines and details for tonight:

Pullman (including Albion):
Pullman landline 911 calls will be forwarded to Whitcom’s administrative lines prior to the outage. Wireless and VOIP calls will not be impacted.

Moscow:
Moscow landline 911 calls will be forwarded to Latah County 911 dispatch prior to the outage. Latah will contact and coordinate with Whitcom so that emergency responders can be notified. University of Idaho calls will be forwarded to Whitcom administrative lines prior to the outage. Wireless and VOIP calls will not be impacted.

Garrison (the rural area between Moscow and Pullman):
Garrison calls will be forwarded to either Whitcom or Latah 911 centers prior to the outage depending on whether they have a Moscow or Pullman phone number. Wireless and VOIP calls will not be impacted.

Palouse, Garfield, Oakesdale, Malden, Rosalia, and Tekoa:
These communities will be isolated for landline 911 and long distance. 911 calls cannot be rerouted to any 911 dispatch center. Wireless and VOIP calls will not be impacted.

County 911 dispatch centers in the Nez Perce Tribal PD response area (Nez Perce, Lewis, Clearwater and Idaho):
Nez Perce County will still be able to transfer 911 calls to Whitcom over the 911 network. Clearwater County will be isolated as they are impacted by the outage. Lewis and Idaho Counties will not be able to transfer or call Whitcom.

All other areas in Whitman and Asotin Counties:
911 calls will not be impacted.
