Picture perfect weather to start October – Matt
SPOKANE, Wash.– October starts this weekend, but the weather is going to feel just as summer-like as the trees are looking right now.
What we’re tracking
Entering October our temperatures should normally top out in the mid 60s to mid 70s. Instead, we’re getting upper 70s and low 80s for the foreseeable future. Why? Another round of strong high pressure will park itself over the western states, pushing out the storm that brought many of us much-needed rain on Thursday. This high pressure ridge looks incredibly persistent, meaning it’s going to stick around for a while. We’ve got at least a week before we have to think about rain again.
Plan your Saturday
It’s going to feel the most like fall on Saturday before we warm up even further. The afternoon will be comfortable in the mid-70s after starting off in the 40s and 50s in the morning. The clouds that were a fixture the past couple of days will be mostly gone. Don’t forget the sunscreen if you’re out and about. The sun is sneaky this time of year.
Spokane and Coeur d’Alene forecasts
Winds out of the east and northeast should keep air quality good and give a bit of an autumn tinge to the otherwise warm October weather. Highs in the metro region should start poking up into the 80s starting on Monday and will hover in that upper 70s and low 80s zone for the foreseeable future. Yes, this is probably the least exciting weather we’ve had in a while, but it’s also an incredible stretch of nice conditions for this point in the year. Enjoy!
