Philly Steak Sports Bar Opens in North Spokane
Tom Guthrie knows there’s a formula for a successful restaurant: great food, a good them and outstanding service.
“I realized Spokane doesn’t have anywhere to go for a great Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich so I thought the economy is getting a bit better so now was a good time to open this restaurant,” said Guthrie.
Guthrie opened Spike’s on March 5th and says business has been great.
“So far people are really enjoying the food. It’s a great place to watch sports and get a lot of different kinds of beer we have on tap,” said Guthrie.
Guthrie is no stranger to the restaurant business. He was part owner of Flaming Joes until he decided to concentrate on other opportunities.
Guthrie grew up on the East Coast and spent a lot of time at Pat’s and Geno’s, two places that are famous for their Phillys.
“In high school I wrestled in New Jersey and one of my teamates was from Philly so we’d always go to Pat’s or Geno’s, that’s where I really got to know what a real Philly was all about,” Guthrie said.
Spike’s is open every day. Their address is 718. E. Francis and the phone number is (509) 489-0301.
