Person missing from scene of Waterville fire
WATERVILLE, Wash. — One person believed to be at the scene of a fire in Waterville has not been located.
Just after 7 p.m. Thursday, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fire at the 100-block of West Locust Street. Fire District #1 and Douglas Fire Districts helped knock down the flames.
Washington State Patrol helped with traffic control and closed nearby roadways.
While crews were working to put out the fire, deputies learned a person who was reportedly at that location could not be found. Douglas County detectives are working with the the Douglas County Fire Marshal to investigate and locate the missing person.
The sheriff’s office has not reported any casualties or deaths from this fire.
US 2 will be closed past the fire scene. WSDOT had created a detour route for drivers traveling through Waterville.
