One shot in Hillyard drug deal, suspected shooter detained
SPOKANE, Wash. — Just after 11:00 p.m. Sunday, multiple 911 calls reported gunfire in the 4200 block of E. Longfellow Ave, and one person was reported to have been shot in the 3100 block of E. Francis Ave..
On Francis, a man was found by officers, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was given first aid and eventually taken to a local hospital with critical injuries.
Officers found evidence that a shooting had taken place at the Longfellow location.
Multiple people were detained, including the suspected shooter, and there are currently no other wanted suspects. Officers at the scene tell our Casey Lund that no arrests have been made.
Officers investigating the situation believe shooting escalated from a drug deal, and it was not a random incident. As of 2:00 a.m. Monday, officers are confident there is no continued threat to the public.
The 4200 block of Longfellow will be closed for several hours as Major Crimes Unit detectives investigate the scene.
