One dead in head-on crash near Mattawa
MATTAWA, Wash. — Washington State Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that happened Wednesday morning near Mattawa.
Trooper John Bryant says the crash, between a semi and a passenger car, happened at milepost 4 of State Route 243, about 10 miles south of Mattawa. The passenger car, traveling southbound, tried to pass another car in heavy fog and ran into an oncoming semi.
The driver of passenger car died at the scene. Both lanes of the highway are currently closed for the investigation.

Bryant says drivers should avoid the area if they can.
