Olympic results: Women’s snowboard cross

The fourth time wasn’t the charm for Lindsey Jacobellis when it came to Olympic snowboard cross.

Competing in her fourth Olympics, the 32-year-old from Roxbury, Connecticut, finished fourth in the event’s final Friday at the PyeongChang Olympics.

The fourth-place finish leaves Jacobellis with only a silver from 2006 in her Olympic career. She crashed out in the semifinals in 2014 and 2010.

Italy’s Michela Moioli won gold in Friday’s final. Julia Pereira de Sousa Mabileau of France won silver Friday, with Eva Samkova of the Czech Republic taking bronze.

Jacobellis is a five-time world champion in the event, most recently in 2017, and is also a 10-time X Games medalist in the sport.

Faye Gulini, a 25-year-old Salt Lake City native competing in her third Olympics, and Olympic rookie Meghan Tierney, a 21-year-old from Eagle, Colorado, were knocked out in the quarterfinals earlier Friday.
