Odessa pastor killed in semi truck crash
ODESSA, Wash. — An Odessa pastor was killed in a semi truck crash on Highway 21 Monday afternoon.
Tim Hauge, 55, of Odessa was killed when the Peterbilt grain truck he was driving was heading southbound on Highway 21 crossed over the railroad avenue, left the road, went up an embankment and slammed into an abandoned warehouse.
People who saw the crash managed to pull the truck out of the building in an effort to get Hauge out.
“The vehicle collided with the corner of the building and it was actually inside the building. They were unable to get to the driver so people were in the yard here had construction equipment capable of pulling the vehicle and trailer out to get access to the driver,” Sgt. Joel Gordon with the Washington State Patrol said.
The Washington State Patrol reports that brake failure was responsible for the crash.
Hauge was the pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in Odessa since he moved to Eastern Washington back in 2002. A 1988 graduate of Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio, he served in two other parishes before moving to Odessa.
