Jerry Allen Spalding- B. June 15, 1965 - D. March 5, 2018. He was born in Spokane to Jerry and Barbara Spalding.
He grew up in Ione and graduated at Selkirk High School in 1984. He went to work for Vaagens Mill after high school and became Chief Stacker for the night crew until it closed in 1994. He married in 1988 and had 3 children and later was divorced. He knew Carrie Haskins and was with her until his death. He worked for the Mini-mart when it was reopened and left when it was sold. In 2001 he was granted disability.
He was a volunteer on the Ione Fire Dept. starting in 2001. He was with the dept. for 17 yrs. The last 7 yrs. he was Fire Chief until being taken over by Fire Dist.#2.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jerry and Barbara Spalding, his baby sister Joyce and 2- half-brothers Joey Phipps and Teddie Phillips.
He is survived by Carrie Haskins, his life-long partner, 3 sons Michael Spalding, Beau Spalding, Dustin Spalding, 2 daughters Shadow Spalding, and Shantell Spalding. Two step-sons Gregory Haskins, Michael Haskins, 1 step-daughter Tara Rickman, his 3 sisters Penny Smith, Jeanne' Ottenstroeor, Winona Bakarich.
His service is Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the Selkirk High School at 12:00. There will be refreshments after the service. He will be presented to Selkirk High School by a parade of Fire Trucks. They will start at Newport and end at the High School.
