NYC cafe suing Starbucks over ‘unicorn frappuccino’
The End Brooklyn claims Starbucks stole its idea for the “Unicorn Frappucchino,” which was introduced by the coffee giant last month.
According to USA Today, The NYC shop says it started selling the “Unicorn Latte” in December and has had a trademark application pending for the drink name since January. The lawsuit alleges, “The size and scope of the Starbucks’ product was designed so that the Unicorn Frappucchino would eclipse the Unicorn Latte in the market. In addiction to having a highly similar name, Starbucks’ Unicorn Frappucchino shares visual similarities to the Unicorn Latte in that both were brightly colored and featured the colors pink and blue prominently.”
Starbucks says the claims are “without merit.”
