MOSES LAKE, Wash. — The Grant County Coroner has identified the victim in Thursday’s boating incident at Blue Heron Park.

The body of Kelly Ellingson, 41, was recovered from the water Thursday evening.

Marine deputies learned that Ellingson and a friend had launched a small motorized boat from the park dock, then tried to return to the dock to pick up a forgotten item.

Ellingson was operating the boat and accelerated while making a turn, causing both him and his friend to fall into the water.

The friend was able to swim to shore, but Ellingson did not resurface. Neither Ellingson, nor his fiend were wearing a life vest.

Ellingson’s body was recovered several hours after he went missing.

Deputies believe this the incident was nothing more than a terrible accident.
