Northern Lights will likely be visible across the Inland Northwest this weekend

You will have a better than average chance of seeing the Northern Lights from Spokane and North Idaho this weekend.

4 New Now Weather Forecaster Mark Peterson said a geomagnetic storm will be over Canada and produce aurora borealis, also known as the Northern Lights.

A new moon phase recently started, which makes conditions even better to view the Northern Lights. The best place to watch the phenomenon is further out in the countryside, or wherever there is little light pollution.

Peterson said the best time to view the Northern Lights is after 10 p.m. into the early morning hours of Saturday and Sunday.
