Ninth Spokane Veterans Home resident dies from COVID-19

Two more people have died after testing positive for COVID-19 at the Spokane Veterans Home

SPOKANE, Wash. — A ninth resident of the Spokane Veterans Home died from COVID-19 on Thursday, says the Washington Department for Veterans Affairs.

The VA says the veteran passed away at a local hospital.

“Like each of our veterans have done, they fought bravely against this new adversary, but unfortunately, the disease along with their other medical conditions proved to be more than could be overcome,” said Veterans Home administrator, Patrick McNabb. “We mourn this honored Veteran, and our entire Spokane Veterans Home team offers condolences to their family and friends.”

According to the Veterans Home, 46 residents and 24 staff members have thus far tested positive for the coronavirus. All of the infected residents are receiving care at the Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center.
