Nez Perce Tribal officer back on his feet after being shot twice
LEWISTON, Idaho — How about this for some Monday motivation?
Officer Josh Rigney, who was shot and injured on Wednesday, is back up on his feet. The Nez Perce Tribe posted a photo of Rigney walking at the hospital, and his smile shows his recovery is going well.
Rigney was shot while he was off-duty at his home. The Idaho State Police said Daniel Cook Jr. fired into Rigney’s home and struck him twice.
Lewiston Police officers then chased Cook to the Nez Perce County fairgrounds. ISP said Cook was firing at officers from his vehicle.
Cook was shot and killed by LPD officers’ returned fire.
ISP has not released any information pertaining to a motive. But, moments before the shooting, a neighbor said she spoke to Cook, who inquired about Rigney’s whereabouts.
