WSU to announce contract extension for Mike Leach

PULLMAN, Wash. - Despite drawing interest from other schools recently, Mike Leach will remain the head football coach at Washington State University.

In an email to KXLY's Derek Deis, WSU President Kirk Schulz said, "I can confirm that we will announce an extension for Coach Leach today."

Leach will complete his sixth season at WSU when the Cougars face Michigan State in the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 28 in San Diego, California. He owns a 38-37 record during his time in Pullman, but has compiled 26 wins in the past three seasons.

Leach's current contract pays him $2.95 million a year, plus incentives. With the contract extension, it's expected he'll make over $3 million a year in guaranteed salary.
