Woman in critical condition after crashing car into Fernan Lake

KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho - A 20-year-old Coeur d'Alene woman is in critical condition tonight after crashing her car into Fernan Lake Thursday afternoon.

Maris L. Goldman was pulled from her submerged vehicle in Fernan Lake near the 3700 block of E. Fernan Lake Rd. by divers with the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office Dive Rescue Team at around 2:25 p.m. She was rescued nearly 21 minutes after the first 911 call.

EMS personnel initiated lifesaving procedures on Goldman, who was transported to Kootenai Health where she's hospitalized in the ICU.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Members of the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, Kootenai County Fire & Rescue, and Kootenai County EMS all responded to the scene.
