On Tuesday afternoon at around 3:30, Chelan County Marine Deputies responded to calls of a possible drowning on Lake Chelan.

Upon further investigation it was learned that a group had rented a boat and were swimming off the back towards the middle of the lake.

While swimming, 23-year-old Donghoon Lee started experiencing difficulties.

Others from the group attempted to throw him a life jacket, but were unsuccessful before he sank beneath the surface.

The group made an effort to find him, but could not.

The Chelan County Sheriff's Office and rescue swimmers from Chelan Fire responded with multiple boats.

However, crews were also unsuccessful in finding Lee.

Donghoon was on a break from attending University of Washington.
