Thief steals from car, threatens to stab owner

MOSES LAKE, Wash. - Moses Lake police officers and the Grant County Sheriff's Office caught a vehicle prowler who threatened to stab the owner of the car he was prowling Sunday.

According to the Moses Lake Police Department, several high school students arrived at the I90/SR17 park and ride lot park and ride early Sunday morning, after returning from Scarywood. As they pulled into the lot, they saw 30-year-old Armando Rubio going through the trunk of one of their cars.

The students confronted Rubio, who threatened to stab one of them, before getting on his bike and riding away. The students gave the police a description of Rubio.

Officers found Rubio's abandoned bike, and Grant County Sheriff's Office K9 Chicka and Handler Ric Char began to track him. Rubio surrendered when he saw the K9 coming. Police say Rubio confessed to officers, saying he can steal whenever he wants and usually gets away with it. 

He was booked into the Grant County Jail on charges of threats, possession of meth, and vehicle prowling.
