SANDPOINT, Idaho - The search for Robert Cameron Hegseth Wohali, who was reported missing on March 17, concluded when detectives located Hegseth Wohali deceased in a rural location south of Sandpoint. He had a single gunshot to the chest.
On March 17, Hegseth Wohali, 26, was officially reported missing from the Sandpoint area. The Sandpoint Police Department, with support from Bonner County Sheriff's Office and Idaho State Police, launched an area wide search.
Early into the search, detectives developed a suspect in the disappearance. The suspected has been identified as Michael R. McDermott. McDermott has been in custody at the Bonner County Jail since the weekend on unrelated charges.
The search concluded during the evening of March 19 when Sandpoint detectives received information that Hegseth Wohali had been shot and killed. Detectives are actively processing the crime scene and await results of the autopsy, which are expected next week.
A gun, believed to have been used in the crime, has been recovered. It is believed Hegseth Wohali was killed at 2208 Great Northern Road in the early morning hours of Friday, March 15.
