Police pursuit leads to arrest of suspected carjackers

SPOKANE, Wash. - A police pursuit ended in a pit maneuver and two arrests at 5th and Freya late Thursday night.

Spokane Police attempted to pull over a car in the Hillyard neighborhood around 10 p.m. on Thursday.  The same car was stolen in a carjacking at gunpoint in Spokane Valley on June 2nd.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to comply, leading police on a high-speed chase through several neighborhoods.

The chase proceeded through downtown, up the South Hill, then back north again to the East Central Neighborhood.

A Spokane County K-9 unit in the area joined the pursuit.  Eventually, a PIT maneuver at 5th and Freya brought the chase safely to an end.

Two suspects were arrested.

The driver was 31-year-old Jeremy Shelton.  He's currently charged with attempting to elude a police vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle.

The passenger, 28-year-old Ethan Stowe-Reasoner, is charged with ID theft, possession of stolen property, and possession of methamphetamine.  The drug charges stem from an investigation on Wednesday.

Fortunately, no injuries happened during the chase and there was very little damage to property.

As for the carjacking investigation, the Spokane County Sheriff's Office will continue to investigate and decide if more charges wil brought against the suspects.
