Orca task force opens to the public

Tacoma meeting Oct 17-18

Governor Jay Inslee's Southern Resident Orca Task Force is opening up to the public comment as it searches for ways to help the orcas who live off the Washington coast.

The committee will meet in Tacoma at the Landmark Convention Center (47 St. Helens Ave) on the following dates:

Wednesday, October 17, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Thursday, October 18, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

If its schedule allows, TVW, Washington’s public affairs network, will broadcast the portions of the meeting.

Both days of the meeting are open to the public, and all are welcome to provide comment and learn about the effort to recover Southern Resident orcas. Because so many people have expressed interest in commenting, in person, to the task force, the group has set aside the evening of Wednesday, October 17, from 5 to 8 p.m, for this purpose. Information about the sign-in and comment process will be provided beforehand. In addition, public comments continue to be accepted in writing, online.
