MOSES LAKE, Wash. - On Thursday morning, a house fire near Moses Lake left one person dead.
Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison confirmed Moses Lake resident Lora Lee Smart, 84, died from smoke inhalation after an autopsy Friday afternoon.
A dog in the home also died in the fire.
Grant County Fire District 5 was called just past 7:30 Tuesday morning to a home near Moses Lake Golf Course.
Firefighters found the home completely engulfed.
During efforts to extinguish the blaze, crews found the body of the home's resident.
The home was destroyed in the fire.
Fire District 5 Chief Dan Smith said it will likely take several days to determine what caused the fire.
The Grant County Fire Marshal’s Office and Grant County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
"I was deeply saddened when I learned of this tragic fire," Sheriff Tom Jones stated. "Please join me by saying a prayer for Lora Smart's loved ones."
