New Year's Eve fight spills into day in southeast Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash - Spokane Police say a fight New Year's Eve extended into the new year Tuesday, leading to a large police presence in southeast Spokane.

Police responded to the neighborhood near the Richard Allen Court Apartments around 11 am. Initial calls led police to believe there was a gunshot or stabbing, but no one was injured at the scene.

Police set up a perimeter in the area north of the Perry District, but did not arrest anyone as of noon Tuesday.

One neighbor told the KXLY reporter on the scene that she heard gunshots or fireworks before police arrived.

Police may release information about the suspect or suspects later Tuesday; they say everyone involved knows each other.
