SPOKANE, Wash. - A new business just opened its doors in Kendall Yards and it might be just what was needed in that part of town.
There is nothing quite like My Fresh Basket in Spokane. You can start your morning with a hot cinnamon roll at their breakfast bar and grab a cup of Roast House Coffee, as well.
One thing is for sure, My Fresh Basket doesn't want to be known as just another grocery store.
"We would like to call it a fresh day market grocery store," said Ramona Higashi, owner of My Fresh Basket.
Higashi and her husband Craig have a vision.
"We would like our customers to be in here one time a day, at least stopping in and grabbing what they need for the day," Higashi said.
Of course, their business philosophy is all about fresh and local.
My Fresh Basket has partnered with Roast House Coffee for its espresso. They make pastries fresh from their on-site bakery. The store will also include a salad bar, fresh meat and seafood departments, and will be serving kombucha on tap.
The store brings with it more than 100 part and full time jobs, and it provides something else that Kendall Yards was missing.
"The residents of Kendall Yards were really requesting a grocery store and when the opportunity presented itself, we helped them with their dream come true and built them a store," Higashi said.
While My Fresh Basket will offer specialty products, it will also have everyday brands you see in most traditional grocery stores.
Higashi wants people to know that this is just the soft opening of the store and there is still a lot more to come, including a coffee lounge area and even cooking classes in the upstairs space of the building.
The grand opening of My Fresh Basket is coming July 21st.
