Man wanted in connection with double homicide is Idaho sex offender

LEWISTON, Idaho - UPDATE: Carlin has been taken into custody near Umatilla, Oregon. Lewiston police are securing search warrants to continue the investigation. At this time, there are no other suspects in the case.

A man named as a person of interest in a Lewiston double homicide is a registered sex offender, convicted of sexually abusing a child.

Lewiston Police are looking for 73-year old Richard Carlin. They have not released his connection to two people found dead early this morning. A third victim is in the hospital being treated for a stab wound to his back.

Carlin was convicted in 2004 of sexually abusing a child under the age of 16. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Police say Carlin is possibly driving a red, 1996 Toyota Corolla with Idaho license plate N100378; he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on the case should contact Lewiston Police. If you see Carlin or the vehicle, call 911.
