AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. - The Cheney School District has brought in 2,000 gallons of water over the last 12 hours to deal with the water contamination crisis in Airway Heights.
The district operates only one school in Airway Heights, Sunset Elementary School. Between students and staff, about 500 people work and learn in that school.
When the contamination alert came out Tuesday, the district bought 600 bottles of water. Wednesday morning, they brought in clean water for the kitchen staff to prepare breakfast and lunch.
The district brought in another 1,400 bottles Wednesday.
In addition to bottled water, the district brought in 10 Culligan water dispensers to get clean water to students and staff.
