UPDATE: Person of interest in Lewiston double homicide taken into custody

LEWISTON, Idaho - UPDATE: Carlin has been taken into custody near Umatilla, Oregon. Lewiston police are securing search warrants to continue the investigation. At this time, there are no other suspects in the case.  

Lewiston Police used pings from suspect Carlin’s cell phone to find him in Oregon. Police say suspect was related to victims.

Police say two eyewitnesses were essential in providing information about the suspect that led to his arrest.

The third victim who was stabbed in the back has already been released from hospital.

The Lewiston Police Department is currently investigating a homicide that occurred in the 600 block of Preston Avenue shortly after 5:00 a.m. Tuesday.

The investigation has revealed that there are two adult deceased subjects in a home at this
location. A third adult victim is currently in serious condition at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center with a stab wound to his back.

The names of the victims are not being released at this time. This case is currently under active investigation by detectives.

A person of interest in this case has been identified as 73 year old Richard Carlin whose last known address is in Lewiston, but he has not been located at this time. Mr. Carlin is possibly driving a red, 1996 Toyota Corolla with Idaho license plate N100378.

It is unknown where he is headed at this time. Mr.Carlin should be considered armed and dangerous. If you locate this vehicle, please do not attempt to contact the
occupant and immediately call 911.
