Outfielders Taylor Trammel and Sam Haggerty were called up from Triple-A Tacoma, and infielder Abraham Toro was placed on the 10-day injured list after suffering a left shoulder sprain. Outfielder Steven Souza was designated for assignment.
Trammel made his debut last season against the San Francisco Giants before going back and forth from Seattle and Tacoma. Trammel has played only three games in Tacoma this season due to injury, where he was rehabbing in Peoria, Arizona, as part of the extended Spring Training program.
Haggerty is batting .304 in Tacoma, tallying nine doubles, a triple and five home runs, adding 21 RBIs and 13 stolen bases to his statline. Since April 26, the 27-year-old utility man has reached safely in 15 of his 19 plate appearances during that span, scoring 17 runs and walking nine times.
Toro, on the other hand, has seen his ups and downs thus far in the season. Appearing in 38 games for the M’s, he’s batting .179 with six homeruns and 13 RBIs. He left Saturday’s game against the Red Sox early due to a shoulder sprain he sustained during a collision with right fielder Adam Frazier in the third inning. Toro was on a five-game hitting streak before injuring his shoulder on Saturday.
Souza hit .159 appearing in six games for Seattle from May 13-19. The Everett, Washington native struggled in his time in Seattle, tallying only one RBI in his time with the Mariners.
The Mariners are currently playing the Red Sox in Fenway Park.
