Spokane woman proposes while dressed as a T-Rex

A Spokane bride-to-be turned heads Monday night when she proposed to her boyfriend during dinner at a local restaurant. But it wasn't because she popped the question, rather, what she was wearing.

Andrew Dunlap went to Tomato Street with his girlfriend, Chelsea Pearson, thinking they were grabbing dinner. Little did he know she was planning a prehistoric proposal.

Chelsea went to the bathroom, changed into an inflatable T-Rex costume and waddled her way through the restaurant.

“My heart was in my stomach and it was so hard to walk in that thing,” she said.

She says she was a bit nervous about how her future husband would react to a marriage proposal from a dinosaur.

“He was kind of turned away and you turn and you see a dinosaur standing next to you,” she said of Andrew's surprised reaction.

Chelsea says she was more nervous than she realized and forgot the speech she'd planned.

“Because there were so many people, I was just like, 'Will you marry me,'” she said.

Andrew said yes, even though she had a hard time hugging him with her T-Rex arms.

“That dinosaur costume restricts you, so they can't go as far,” she said.

The couple has two sons. They say the dinosaur costume might make an appearance at their wedding.
