Spokane County to test emergency alert system

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane County's Emergency Notification System, ALERT SPOKANE, will be tested on Tuesday, November 7 at 9 a.m.

The alert system is county-wide, and works for landlines and self-registered phone lines. If you receive a call, don't panic. Emergency personnel are just testing the system.

The Caller ID will read 866-419-5000, or “Emergency Comm.” The message will say the following:

“This is an important test message from ALERT Spokane. This is only a test.  We’d like to encourage all residents and businesses in Spokane County to enter or update your contact information, including cell phone numbers and email addresses to ensure all the data in our system is accurate and current. Please go to www.alertspokane.org and click on the ALERT Spokane logo to access the registration page. ALERT Spokane is powered by the mass notification system CodeRED. You can also download the CodeRED mobile app which is available on Android and iOS platforms.”

For those who would prefer not to register, the mobile app is available on Android and iOS platforms. A link to the app can be found on the ALERT Spokane website.
