Police searching for man who stole from Home Depot, pushed employee

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Valley Major Crimes Unit is searching for a man who stole several Milwaukee drills from Home Depot and pushed a store employee when she tried to stop him.

The employee told police that on September 1, around 7:20 p.m., she tried to stop the suspect after she saw him fill a backpack with the drills and batteries before walking toward an exit in the back without paying.

She confronted the suspect, who pushed her out of the way and ducked out the lumber door, spilling some of the merchandise in the process. The employee grabbed the backpack but dropped it as the suspect turned around. She took some of the stolen merchandise that had fallen and went back in the store.

The suspect was last seen running toward Costco in the 5600 block of E. Sprague. Deputies checked the area but did not find him.

The suspect is a white male, 30-40 years old, and tall with short brown hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt, khaki shorts, and carrying a black backpack.

If you have any information on the incident or recognize the suspect, you are asked to call Detective Mike Drapeau at 509-477-6921.
