Fire destroys iconic barn at Settler's Creek wedding venue

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - UPDATE: The owners of the venue are cleaning up debris, and working to accommodate all scheduled events.

The Post Falls Brewing Company is hosting a fundraiser on Friday, August 14, to help the family rebuild.

A popular wedding venue burned to the ground Tuesday afternoon near Coeur d'Alene. Crews responded to Settler's Creek on West Riverview Drive just after 1:40 p.m. Firefighters were able to save four buildings surrounding the fully engulfed barn

The Idaho Department of Lands used a helicopter to stop the fire from spreading in the timber nearby, but not before it burned close to 30 acres.

Steve Isaacson with Kootenai Fire and Rescue says that air support made all the difference.

"They came in with air and water resources that really helped us battle the ensuing wildland fire that took off due to the prevailing winds out of the west," said Isaacson.

The official cause of the fire has not been released pending a full investigation but Isaacson says they believe the fire may have started in the kitchen while the staff was preparing for an event Tuesday night.
