Brush fire burns 5 acres west of Riverside State Park

SPOKANE, Wash. - UPDATE: As of 6 p.m. Tuesday evening, the fire is 40 percent contained with just one tree burning, according to the DNR. The fire will be heavily staffed overnight and into Wednesday morning. 

A brush fire is burning  in the 14700 block of W. Coulee Hite Road, west of Riverside State Park.

According to Nick Scharff, Fire Chief of District 10, there are about 5 acres of wildfire burning in steep terrain near high tension power lines.

 No structures are currently being threatened.

Washington Department of Natural Resources and other districts are helping.
