It's late in December and over the past couple of weeks there have been a flurry of game announcements at various awards ceremonies and press conferences. Many "best of" lists are also making their rounds.
The Steam winter sale is rumored to take place starting in a little under a week, and with the holidays right around the corner, now is not the best time to splurge on a new game. All the more reason to take advantage of the free offerings provided by Steam this weekend; Homefront: The Revolution and H1Z1 are free to play for a limited time.
Homefront is an open-world first person shooter where you are tasked with leading the Resistance movement in guerrilla warfare against a superior military force. The game boasts “a living, breathing, open world” that responds to your actions you inspire a rebellion on the streets to turn occupation into revolution. While the campaign is a good start, there is also a Co-Op portion.
H1Z1 on the other hand is a Battle Royale title that resembles the massively popular PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. More of an arcade style shooter than the strictly realistic nature of PUBG, some of the most notable differences are a much greater focus on crafting and crazy outfits.
Homefront: The revolution is available until Sunday at 1 PM, while H1Z1 will be playable all the way until December 21. Both titles are also currently 75 percent off. Homefront (originally $30) is on sale for $7.50, and H1Z1 which is originally $20 is only $5.
