SPOKANE, Wash. - The Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery is moving ahead in its quest to serve more children and their families in Spokane.
The nursery is moving from it's current location on west 8th Avenue to 2230 E. Sprague. Demolition of building that's currently standing at that location will begin Monday.
The Crisis Nursery says the progress would not be possible without a generous community of champions sharing their time, talent and treasure. There is still plenty of work ahead to design, build and fund this increased capacity but it expects to break ground on the new facility by fall.
The Nursery hopes that the new location will allow them to say yes to the thousands they turn away each year, and significantly increases their impact. They are planning on providing care for children up to age 12, children with more complex medical needs, and expanded parenting programs in which they anticipate will be roughly 30,000 sq. ft. of building with an additional 6,000 sq. ft. of outdoor play space.
The Crisis Nursery remains privately funded, and it invites the community to share in the continued ownership of the Nursery.
