News to know to start your Monday
SPOKANE, Wash. — Happy Monday! It will be a hot start to the week with temperatures today through Wednesday in the mid- to upper-90s . Stay cool, stay hydrated, and try to enjoy this summer weather!
Here’s what you should know to start off your week:
Two horrific mass shootings in a matter of hours. What now?
Twenty nine people were gunned down in two U.S. cities this weekend. At least one of the shooters is believed to have been motivated by hatred and white nationalist views. Classmates of the other say he had a ‘hit list’ in high school. As the Dayton and El Paso communities grieve, where does the rest of the country go from here? That’s the question many are asking their lawmakers after this devastating weekend. The President is expected to give remarks about the shootings and a plan to go forward from them at 7:00 a.m.
Group of convicted felons breaks into thrift store
Four people, all with extensive criminal histories, were arrested yesterday for breaking into the Arc of Spokane thrift store near downtown. Police said hundreds of dollars in stolen merchandise were found. Surveillance video showed three of them ransacking the store’s jewelry counter, stealing laptops, and trying to get into cash registers. The fourth acted as a lookout. More here.
