Multiple-car crash cleared from eastbound I-90 downtown, major backups still in area
SPOKANE, Wash. — A multiple-car crash blocking most of eastbound I-90 through downtown Spokane has been cleared after several hours, Washington State Department of Transportation says.
The crash occurred near Division Street, and WSDOT says the exit lane to Division and the two rightmost lanes were blocked, leaving only one lane for cars to get through. This created huge backups stretching all the way past the Geiger interchange. Crews were forced to close the Maple and Monroe Street on-ramps while working to clear the wrecked cars.
WSDOT says to still expect major delays driving through the area, with backups past the Geiger interchange and construction near Division and Sprague constricting traffic. The Maple and Monroe Street on-ramps are still closed but crews are looking to reopen them soon.
This is a developing story.
