Mount St. Helens erupted 39 years ago today

SPOKANE, Wash. — May 18 marks the anniversary of a day that devastated Spokane and surrounding areas.
It was on that day in 1980 that Mount St. Helens erupted, darkening the sky with ash that settled over eastern Washington.
