Mother’s Day spending expected to hit record $25 billion
SPOKANE, Wash. — American shoppers are expected to spend a record $25 billion on Mother’s Day gifts in 2019, according to the National Retail federation.
The NRF says 86% percent of people surveyed plan to participate in Mother’s Day this year, spending an average $196 per person. That number is up $16 from 2018’s average. –
– 75% of people will spend an estimated $843 million on greeting cards.
– 67% of shoppers will buy flowers
– 55% will spend money on a special occasion
– 35% will buy jewelry, which is expected to bring in the most money at $5.2 billion
