Michael Zollars announces candidacy for Spokane County Sheriff

SPOKANE, Wash. — Michael Zollars announced on Monday that he will be running for Spokane County Sheriff.

Zollars, a rural county resident for more than 50 years, previously served over 32 years as a Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy. He has held many positions in the past, including Patrol, DUI enforcement, general investigations, Property Crimes Task Force, SWAT Team commander, TAC team commander, and many others.

Zollars also served as the Sheriff’s representative on the Spokane Regional Emergency Communications System project. He assisted in the design, training, and implementation of the $84 million system, helping integrate communication of regional public safety and service organizations across Spokane and Coeur d’Alene.

He’s also served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for 38 years.

Zollars will be running against Undersheriff John Nowels, who has been endorsed by current Spokane County Sherriff Ozzie Knezovich.
