Meet the dog that’s saving Washington waters
SPOKANE, Wash. — Puddles is the newest member of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife’s police team.
Her job is to sniff out Zebra and Quagga mussels that get attached to boats, and could potentially cost tax payers hundreds of millions of dollars to remove if they infiltrated Washington waters.
Official boating season hasn’t even begun and she’s already found six contaminated boats. Last year, the WDFW found a total of 18 boats contaminated with mussels.
