Medical Examiner identifies victim in fatal Reardan crash
SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane County Medical Examiner identified the victim in Friday’s fatal crash off Wood Road in Reardan.
The Medical Examiner said 62-year-old John B. Smith died of blunt head, chest, pelvic and extremity injuries. His death was ruled an accident.
Spokane County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of the crash around 12:45 p.m. just off Wood Road, near Martha Lane. A release said a passerby called to report a car was on its side with a man trapped inside.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Smith was driving south on Wood Road when his car began to veer onto the shoulder. The car then suddenly swerved to the east, deputies said, crossing the northbound lane and rolling off the roadway.
Deputies, Spokane County Fire, and AMR personnel arrived, but Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
