You’ve heard of the Puppy Bowl, but here in Washington, we use geoducks to help us pick who will win the Super Bowl.

It may not be cute and fluffy, but the geoduck is a foundational part of Washington State’s ecosystem and we can’t really think of a better representative for the job.

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources tweeted a photo of their beloved “Marshell Lynch,” who has been tasked with picking who will win Sunday’s big game. The thing is… he’s taking his sweet time.

“We’re on the edge of our seats to see which way our friend Marshell Lynch leans,” DNR tweeted.

The department even had a two-hour live feed of Marshell trying to make up his mind, but the geoduck is sure taking his time with the task.

Keep an eye on DNR’s Facebook page to see which team Marshell ultimately picks.

Geoducks help us keep Puget Sound clean. Now they’re helping us pick the winner of #SuperBowlLIV. We’re on the edge of our seats to see which way our friend Marshell Lynch leans.
