Man killed in Hillyard shooting identified, died from gunshot wound to the head
SPOKANE, Wash. — The man killed in a shooting in Spokane’s Hillyard neighborhood on Monday died from a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Spokane County Medical Examiner.
The victim was identified as 21-year-old Christian G. Salazar.
Spokane Police received a call from a woman around 1:15 a.m. Monday, saying her friend had been shot. In the moments after receiving the call, the woman told police the shooter was still at the scene of a McDonald’s parking lot on N. Market Street.
Within minutes, patrol units arived and found Salazar with a gunshot wound in a car parked in the lot of the resaturant. Medics arrived to treat him, but he died shortly after from his injuries.
Police did not originally find the suspect, but did arrest him late Monday night. Christian J. Robinson, 27, has been charged with second-degree murder and denied bail.
According to court records, Salazar was facing charges of robbery and violating court orers.
