Man found not guilty of beating 2-year-old
SPOKANE, Wash. — A man accused of severe child abuse was found not guilty in a bench trial Thursday afternoon.
Cedric Burton was charged with second degree child abuse.
Images shared with KXLY4 showed the two-year-old girl in full arm and leg casts.
Burton denied hurting the child. Surveillance video from the motel where the child and her mom were staying showed the girl walking fine when she left with Burton, but unable to stand when he brought her back.
Burton has an extensive criminal history, including prior assault convictions in 2005, 2010 and 2018. The latest case involve beating the mother of his own child. He also pleaded guilty to harassment in 2010 and has several drug convictions.
