Man falls 50 feet from Centennial Trail toward Spokane River

SPOKANE, Wash. –  A man is safe after falling 50 feet from the Centennial Trail down toward the Spokane River. 

The Spokane Fire Department said the man, who is in his 50s, called 911 to say he needed help after falling along the north bank. He had been hiking and tripped, becoming disoriented. He grabbed onto a tree while he waited for help.

He never fell in the water, but was weak and had trouble getting himself up off the bank.

With a little bit of help from fire crews, he was able to walk back up to the trail on his own.

He was medically evaluated on scene and declined EMS care.
