Man arrested for DUI after high speed chase through Washington and Idaho
SPOKANE, Wash. — Lewiston Police arrested a 26-year-old man for felony eluding and driving under the influence after he fled from Washington State Patrol and an Asotin County Sheriff deputy on Saturday around 9 p.m.
Justin M. Carlson was taken into custody in the 500 block of Warner Avenue after the WSP trooper and ASCO deputy chased him into Lewiston.
The pursuit started in Asotin County when the ACSO deputy and a WSP trooper attempted to stop a suspected DUI driver in a 1995 Hyundia passenger car.
The driver failed to stop and attempted to get away. Speeds reached upward of 100 mph while in Washington.
The pursuit continued into Lewiston on Bryden Canyon Road from the Southway Bridge. Speeds were in excess of 80 mph while on Bryden Canyon Road.
The vehicle stopped in the 500 block of Warner Avenue and Carlson was identified as the driver. Lewiston Police did not participate in the pursuit and arrived shortly after Carlson was detained. No injuries or property damage was reported during the pursuit.
Carlson was taken to the Nez Perce County Jail, but will also face charges in Asotin County from the incident.
