Man accused of lighting multiple fires on the South Hill arrested
SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Police arrested a man who they believe started multiple fires on the South Hill on Tuesday.
According to SPD, reports of the fires came in around 10 a.m. Officers said two of the three fires were burning dangerously close to buildings. The third, police said, was set in the brush by Polly Judd Park.
Officers said two witnesses came forward with a photo that ultimately led them to 29-year-old Alexander C.L. Menko.
Police found Menko near 12th Avenue and Maple Street. After an initial investigation, police said they had probable cause to arrest Menko for two counts of reckless burning 1st degree. Menko has no criminal history.
He was booked into the Spokane County Jail.
