Man accused of beating child facing new charges
SPOKANE, Wash. — A suspect in the brutal beating of a young child is facing new charges of attacking a woman.
Cedric Burton was in court Wednesday facing those charges.
The victim, who is the mother of Burton’s child, says she was driving with him when he became angry.
She says he grabbed her sweatshirt, choked her, and ripped a cell phone from her hand.
She told police she thought her hand had been broken.
Burton already has eight felony convictions in Washington State for assault harassment, drug charges, and jumping bail.
Burton is also waiting for his child abuse trial to begin.
He’s accused of beating another woman’s two-year-old daughter. The little girl suffered two broken arms and two broken leg bones in December 2016 when she and her mother were living with a suspect in an Econo Lodge hotel.
